DIY Christmas Gifts – Custom Kitchen Canisters

I'm sure you were waiting till Thursday to see the new tutorial we're featuring in our DIY Christmas Gifts Serie. Well this week we're having Talitha from Love, Pomegranate House as guest and is sharing a tutorial for Custom Kitchen Canisters. She came up with this idea as a way to organize her kitchen, but loved it so much that decided to make another set for a friend.

Here is the short version and you can read the whole story directly on her blog:
“The canisters are made with water-slide decal paper. You can make your own or find some templates here at Love, Pomegranate House. Material you'll need:

1. Water-slide decal paper
2. Clear Gloss Protecting Spray Coating
3. Jars
4. A bowl of water
5. A washcloth

First print your labels and then spray carefully one coat of the protecting spray.

About 10 minutes after or when the spray has dried you can cut the labels out and submerge them in lukewarm water for approx. 45 seconds. Place the label onto the canister and slide the film off the paper.
Position it as desired and then press out bubbles and excess water with a damp washcloth. Let dry for 30 minutes and spray one more coat of protective spray onto the label to protect it. Once dry they are safe to hand wash, but are not dishwasher safe."

Thanks so much for this awesome tutorial Talitha! These canisters can make great gifts for friends. I would need some for sure to get my kitchen organized :)
